​My client is seeking a full-time Central Office Detail Engineer to join their Team in the field.  

Job Summary:  The primary role of the ISP Detail Engineer is to create detailed implementation specifications, in fulfillment of macro level planning documentation, crafted for consumption by Inside Plant installation teams charged with constructing complex technical power, network, fiber optic transmission, voice switching and management systems that comprise a particular Fiber physical infrastructure.  The composition of these detailed specifications includes an exhaustive list of all major elements and components of any given system, the attending minor materials along with precise step by step installation instructions, cable run lists, initial hardware configuration and power up procedures.  The ISP Detail Engineer is further responsible for definition and procurement of the construction materials, coordinating deployment schedules with internal and external implementation teams, tracking milestones and reporting progress via defined methods to the Planning Engineer responsible for the overall deployment.  Detail Engineers are also responsible for project closing procedure to include project accounting and AS-BUILT documentation, ensuring all source-of-truth CMDB/databases/repositories are up to date.

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Research and specify minor materials required by each project
  • Create comprehensive Bills of Material (Major/Minor)
  • Create Installation Instructions using IAW established standards and best practices
  • Develop comprehensive Cable Running Lists for all facets of a project (AC/DC Power, Fiber, Copper, Management)
  • Develop Floor Layout, Rack Elevation and Card Load diagrams
  • Establish project milestone dates
  • Coordinate and schedule installation resources
  • Coordinate and stage materials working with Logistics teams
  • Peer review specifications among team members
  • Coordinate and advise Installation personnel in the field; answer questions, document and approve material changes to specifications
  • Coordinate with Planning Engineer to ensure proper capacity assignments
  • Plan, create, submit and seek approval of Changes via the Change Management System for network impacting events
  • Receive and process As-Built documentation
  • Conduct Project Close procedures
  • Other duties as assigned 

Qualifications:

  • Relevant AAS and/or Military Technical training minimum; BSEE, BSEET, BSCS, BSME highly desired.
  • Industry certification such as BICSI, TIA within central office/data center environments highly desired.
  • 3-5 year direct technical experience in engineering or installation of at least TWO of the following:  AC/DC Power distribution, Optical Transport systems, Network routers/switches/firewalls/load balancers/, VOIP Media Gateways, TDM switching, Fiber Optic distribution, structured cabling systems, overhead conveyance systems.
  • Demonstrated excellent technical writing ability.
  • Project Management (“Waterfall”, PMI/PMBOK) experience
  • Adept with diagram/drawing tools such as Visio, OmniGraffle & AutoCAD
  • Extremely detail oriented
  • Excellent time management skills, organized.
  • Able to work as part of a team as well as independently assigned to consistently achieve deadlines.

 Compensation: 

Based on experience level, plus travel expenses. Long term contract 1099 or W2 with potential for transition to permanent FTE.
